The Indian Army and NDA (National Defence Academy) accept candidates who have undergone LASIK or refractive surgery, subject to strict medical criteria.
Key requirements: LASIK must be performed at least 1 year before the SSB medical, candidate should be at least 20 years of age at the time of surgery, post-operative axial length should not exceed 25.5 mm, and corneal thickness must be adequate post-surgery.
Procedures preserving maximum corneal strength — SMILE Pro and TransPRK — are particularly favoured for NDA aspirants.
All pre-LASIK and post-operative records, including corneal topography and pachymetry, are mandatory at the SSB medical board. Plan your LASIK at least 12-18 months before your expected SSB date.
