Is SMILE Pro better than LASIK?+
For most patients with myopia and astigmatism, SMILE Pro offers two advantages over standard LASIK: no corneal flap (preserves biomechanical strength, lower dry-eye risk) and a much faster laser pulse (under 10 seconds vs ~25 seconds). For very low powers or hyperopia, traditional LASIK or Contoura Vision can still be a better fit.

Are there side effects of SMILE Pro?+
SMILE Pro has a strong safety record. Temporary side effects can include mild dry eyes (usually 1–3 months), minor halos at night for a few weeks, and rare under- or over-correction (managed with a touch-up). Serious complications are uncommon.
Who is not eligible for SMILE Pro?+
SMILE Pro is not recommended if you are under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding, have unstable spectacle power, active eye disease, keratoconus, severely thin corneas, or hyperopia (long-sightedness). An eye scan confirms candidacy in 60 minutes.
