Keratoconus Treatment
C3R / CXL collagen cross-linking, Intacs ring segments, and topography-guided treatment to halt keratoconus progression.
Understanding Keratoconus
Keratoconus is a progressive eye condition in which the cornea gradually thins and bulges outward into a cone-like shape — causing distorted vision, increasing myopia and irregular astigmatism. Early diagnosis and treatment are key to preserving vision.
C3R / Corneal Cross-Linking
Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) drops combined with UV-A light create new bonds between corneal collagen fibres — strengthening the cornea and halting keratoconus progression in 95%+ of cases.
Intacs Corneal Ring Segments
Thin, biocompatible ring segments inserted into the cornea to flatten the cone, reduce irregular astigmatism and improve vision — often performed alongside C3R.
Warning signs of keratoconus
- Frequently changing spectacle prescription
- Increasing astigmatism in young adults
- Blurred or distorted vision not fully corrected by glasses
- Increased sensitivity to light and glare
- Family history of keratoconus
