Corneal Transplant in India
Modern partial and full-thickness corneal transplant procedures performed by senior corneal surgeons in Mumbai.
When is a corneal transplant needed?
A corneal transplant (keratoplasty) replaces damaged or diseased corneal tissue with healthy donor tissue. It is recommended for advanced keratoconus, corneal scarring from injury or infection, corneal dystrophies, and failed previous transplants.
Types of corneal transplant
DSEK / DMEK
Partial-thickness endothelial transplant — for Fuchs' dystrophy and endothelial failure. Faster recovery, smaller incision.
DALK
Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty — preserves the patient's healthy endothelium. Ideal for advanced keratoconus.
Penetrating Keratoplasty (PK)
Full-thickness corneal transplant — for severe scarring, infections, or failed previous transplants.
Conditions treated
- Advanced keratoconus not manageable with C3R or Intacs
- Corneal scarring from injury or infection
- Fuchs' endothelial dystrophy
- Bullous keratopathy after cataract surgery
- Failed previous corneal transplant
